Mother’s Day plants, flowers and other gift ideas: Don’t dilly-dally, as Mom might say

April 30, 2021

This is an article about portfolio company, Bloomscape.

It’s impossible to thank Mom in just one day for everything she does. A plant given to her on Mother’s Day lets her enjoy your heartfelt sentiment over the seasons.

Here’s an easy source to remember: plants.com. It’s quick to search for plants in pretty pots by lifestyle (beginner, pet friendly), interest (Feng shui or air purifying), light in the room and specific types such as succulents.

The growing tips are fun to read. A purple Phalaenopsis orchid (on sale at $31.99) “digs bright, indirect light but can handle low light levels too.”

Fintech 2.0: Why embedded finance has brought a seismic shift in banking, and how FIs can respond

April 6, 2021

This is an article about portfolio company, Fintech.

y now, most of us are familiar with the concept of fintech — that is, the application of technology and innovation to improve upon long-standing financial services. Originally, fintech impacted just one industry, albeit an expansive one: banking and finance. However, like most strains of disruptive technology, it was only a matter of time before it found its way into other industries.

Six Lessons Entrepreneurs can learn from the six championships of the 90’s Bulls

Jim Tenzillo / March 30, 2021

As a kid growing up in the Chicago area in the 90’s, the Bulls weren’t just a huge part of my childhood — they were my childhood. I spent hours in my driveway working on the MJ fadeaway and the ‘switching hands’ lay-up, dreaming of someday playing in the NBA.

Unfortunately, due to my height and overall skill level, the NBA never called. Years later, however, I was given the gift of re-living these ‘glory days’ of my childhood v
